    Het gaat wat heen en weer. We zitten nu weer wat lager ja.
    Per saldo is er niks gebeurd. Jammer...althans voor de KT.
    Op de LT ziet het er nog steeds prima uit. Ook als de prijs terugzakt naar zo'n $ 55.

    Blast Hits Iraq North Oil Export Pipeline Thursday - Source

    BAGHDAD -(Dow Jones)- An explosion hit Iraq's northern oil pipeline early Thursday, affecting the flow of Kirkuk crude exports, an oil official said Thursday.

    The blast occurred 10 kilometers north of Beiji oil refinery, at a village called Makhool, the official said.

    The vital pipeline, which pumps Kirkuk crude oil from the refinery to the Mediterranean terminal at Ceyhan in Turkey is still on fire, preventing any resumption of exports, he said.

    The official, who works in the north of the country, didn't have any information on the cause of the blast, the extent of the damage, or the time it would take to repair any damage.

    OPEC-Daily Basket
    The price of the OPEC basket of eleven crudes stood at 52.15 dollars a barrel on Wednesday, compared with 51.90 dollars the previous day, according to OPEC Secretariat calculations.

    In New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) trading on Wednesday, West Texas Intermediate (WTI), the American benchmark crude, for August delivery downed to 74 cents to close at 56.72 dollars a barrel.

    Meanwhile in London's International Petroleum Exchange (IPE), the North Sea Brent crude oil settled at 56.65 dollars a barrel, 71 cents lower than previous day.

    Weinig tot geen invloed van de revaluatie van de YUAN op de olieprijs:

    LONDON (AFX) - The Chinese revaluation of the yuan by some 2.1 pct is unlikely
    to affect the price of oil, analysts said.

    The Chinese central bank today announced that it will drop the yuan's 11-year
    peg to the dollar in favour of one against a basket of currencies.

    Under the new exchange rate mechanism, one dollar is valued at 8.11 yuan
    compared to the old rate of 8.2765 yuan, effectively a 2.1 pct revaluation.

    Peter Luxton, at Informa Global Markets said that while the new basket will be
    trade weighted, the dollar will be big component.

    "The Chinese growth figure (GDP) is still high at 9.5 pct, above the
    expectations of 9.3 pct. There will be no effect on the buying power of the
    Chinese for crude oil," he said.

    Part of the surge in oil prices of late has been due to the rampant Chinese
    demand.

    Stephen Lewis at Monument Securities believes any impact on buying power will be
    small.

    "The move will mean that Chinese purchases of oil will be a little less than
    otherwise," he said.

    But he too noted that Chinese growth rates remain robust and that the
    revaluation is unlikely to put too much of a dampener on activity.

    "The Chinese authorities would have not contemplated this move if that (slower
    growth) were the case," he said.

    At 1215 GMT September-dated Brent futures contracts were down 55 cents at 56.09
    usd a barrel from 57.52 usd around 1000 GMT.

    Meanwhile, US benchmark September-dated contracts were down 52 cents at 57.52,
    after yesterday's August-dated contract expiry, from 57.26 usd.
