    Intel kwam zoals gezegd dus met een concurrentchip van Nvidia, maar ondanks dat ze goedkoper en beter waren zien we niks terug in de grafiek van Intel. Wel opvallend was dat Smart-money zijnde de Top van Nvidia redelijk groot aandelen verkocht. Is dat een signaal?

    JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Intel Corp is halting plans for a $25-billion factory in Israel, Israeli financial news website Calcalist said on Monday, in a report that the chipmaker did not confirm or deny.

    The U.S. company, asked about the report, cited the need to adapt big projects to changing timelines, without directly referring to the project.

    "Israel continues to be one of our key global manufacturing and R&D sites and we remain fully committed to the region," Intel said in a statement.

    Broadcom overtreft verwachtingen, nabeurs +14%. Was dit jaar al 38% opgelopen.

    Dus zelfs na een flinke koersstijging kan een bedrijf nog steeds de verwachtingen flink overtreffen.

    Zoals eerder geschreven, leuk dat het er technisch allemaal goed uitziet bij Intel, wellicht zelfs superieur aan concurrenten. Uiteindelijk moeten er wel genoeg kopers opduiken om al die mooie chips te kopen zodat Intel zijn R&D inspanningen kan verzilveren.

    Ik heb ook gememoreerd aan Philips -
    - Destijd was hun video recorder systeem (Video 2000 ofzo) superieur aan VHS en Betamax van de concurrenten maar commercieel flopte het
    - Legendarisch (zoals ik het ooit ergens heb gelezen) was dat Philips de walkman slag miste. Ze waren de eerste die een "walkman" ready to bijna sell hadden. Probleem was de hoofdtelefoon, de walkman paste gewoon in je binnenzak maar waar moest je de hoofdtelefoon laten. Toen kwam Sony met de oordopjes. Of dit verhaal klopt ? Je kan het bijna niet geloven!

    "We believe the better-than-expected May notebook sales are good news for both Intel and AMD and should result in upside to PC microprocessor sales during 2Q24 for these companies, but we think an AI PC refresh cycle is at least a year away," said Citi analysts Christopher Danely, Kelsey Chia and James Bowlin, in a note on Thursday.
    Intel and AMD derive approximately 37% and 14%, respectively, of sales from notebook CPUs.

    Als Intel maar niet wil stijgen verzacht de dollar het leed.

    Intel is begonnen met massaproductie op '3nm'-procedé in VS en Ierland
    Intel is inmiddels begonnen met de massaproductie van chips op zijn nieuwe Intel 3-procedé. Dat bevestigt het bedrijf tijdens het jaarlijkse VLSI Symposium. Het betreft een verbeterde versie van de eerdere Intel 4-node, die zowel door Intel zelf als door externe klanten gebruikt moet worden.

    Where Will Intel Stock Be in 3 Years?

    More importantly, it is looking to push the envelope by securing all five units of ASML's advanced high-NA extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography chipmaking equipment for 2024.

    ASML can manufacture only five to six units of these machines each year, which means that Intel's rivals will have to wait until the second half of next year to get their hands on them. As a result, Intel might be able to reduce the technology gap with rival foundries, such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing, since it should ideally be able to manufacture chips on smaller process nodes with ASML's new machines.

    Microsoft and Nvidia are now the world’s most valuable companies. How Intel—once the top chipmaker—blew its shot to be one of them

    As detailed in the piece, a key moment occurred in the mid-2000s, when Paul Otellini, then CEO of Intel, said a word to Steve Jobs he almost never heard: No.

    It was 2006, and Intel, the global king of computer chips, was bringing in record revenue and profits by dominating the kinds of chips in hottest demand—for personal computers and data centers. Now Jobs wanted Intel to make a different type of chip for a product that didn’t even exist, which would be called the iPhone.

    Otellini knew chips for phones and tablets were the next big thing, but Intel had to devote substantial capital and its best minds to the fabulously profitable business it already possessed. Besides, “no one knew what the iPhone would do,” he told The Atlantic seven years later, just before he stepped down as CEO. “There was a chip that they were interested in, that they wanted to pay a certain price for and not a nickel more, and that price was below our forecasted cost. I couldn’t see it.”

    Otellini, who died in 2017, was a highly successful CEO by many measures. But if that decision had gone the other way, Intel might have become a chip titan of the post-PC era. Instead, it gave up on phone chips in 2016 after losing billions trying to become a significant player. As he left the company, Otellini seemed to grasp the magnitude of his decision: “The world would have been a lot different if we’d done it.”
