    > De omzet van Pharming in Europa was in 2015 € 2,3 miljoen. Ik schat dat die omzet € 0,5 tot € 1 miljoen hoger had kunnen zijn als over heel 2015 adolescenten behandeld hadden mogen worden
    > Ik twijfel of dat wegvallen om te testen op die konijnen-allergie een effect op de omzet heeft. Er moet volgens mij nog steeds gewaarschuwd (niet getest) worden dat patiënten die allergisch zijn voor konijnen voorzichtig moeten zijn.
    Voor de volledigheid: Ik heb geen aandelen Pharming. Dat durf ik op dit moment niet aan. Denk nog steeds dat ze ergens in april onder de € 0,20 gaan zakken.

    On Thursday, Shares of Valeant Pharmaceuticals Intl Inc (NYSE:VRX) gained 3.98% to $35.53. The share price is trading in a range of $34.49 – $38.18. The stock exchanged hands with 66.83 Million shares contrast to its average daily volume of 33.53 Million shares.

    Pharming Group N.V. declared that the European Commission adopted the CHMP recommendation to include the treatment of HAE attacks in adolescents with HAE and to remove the requirements for rabbit IgE testing that formed part of the EU label for RUCONEST®. The CHMP also noted that the importance of favourable effects of RUCONEST® is further supported by the continued availability of supply of RUCONEST (produced by recombinant technology) in comparison to supply from blood donor plasma that may vary and not being a blood derived product thereby removing the potential risk of exposure to blood borne pathogens.

    This will mean that, effective now, adolescents also have access to (non- blood derived) recombinant C1- inhibitor therapy for the treatment of their angioedema attacks. In addition, the requirement to test HAE patients for pre-existing antibodies against rabbit dander, before treatment with RUCONEST and following each tenth treatment with RUCONEST, has been removed from the label. The requirement for IgE testing was a specific EU request based on a single adverse drug reaction in a study subject. The need for testing was not required in the US as more safety data were available at the time of the Biologics License Application (BLA) and subsequent FDA-approved label in 2014. The EU patient information leaflet will be updated to reflect these changes over the coming months.

    Er is wel belang stelling voor Pharming zal mooi zijn als er in mei mooie cijfers naar buiten komen en weer eens een ritje 0,40 + mogelijk is.fijne zondag!

    More trouble at Valeant Pharmaceuticals (NYSE:VRX)... A Senate committee may soon start contempt proceedings against the drugmaker's chief executive.

    "Michael Pearson was under subpoena to appear for a deposition today related to the Senate Special Committee on Aging's drug pricing investigation, and he did not comply with that subpoena," Senators Susan Collins and Claire McCaskill said late Friday. "It is our intent to initiate contempt proceedings against him."

    Het probleem is denk ik dat Michael Pearson niet onder ede wil en kan verklaren. Ik schat in dat zijn advocaten hem hebben geadviseerd dat van alle slechte opties, het niet komen opdagen de minst slechte optie was. Als hij wel was komen opdagen had hij misschien een aantal keer een beroep moeten doen op zijn "fifth amendment"(recht om te zwijgen) en dat was in deze fase voor Valeant nog schadelijker geweest.

    Valeant is een onderneming met twijfelachtige bedrijfsethiek:

    1) Bij overnames wordt bij de overgenomen partij alle R&D weggesneden (geen bijdrages aan nieuwe geneesmiddelen) en worden prijzen van bestaande medicijnen buitenproportioneel verhoogd (soms met honderden procenten). De enige rechtvaardiging voor die prijsverhoging was dat zoveel mogelijk geld verdiend moest worden.

    2) Leveringen aan eigen dochterbedrijven werden als externe omzet geteld

    3) Foute praktijken worden glashard ontkent, totdat er zoveel bewijs is dat ze niet meer ontkend kunnen worden.

    4) Salix Pharmaceuticals (waar Pharming voor de overname door Valeant een samenwerking mee had) bediende zich ook van vreemde praktijken. Zij leverde aan apothekers en groothandels zoveel voorraad dat er voor meer dan één jaar aan verkopen lag. Toen dit te gortig werd, hebben ze twee kwartalen geen omzet gehad om voorraad bij hun afnemers te kunnen afbouwen. Dat dit geen groot schandaal werd was omdat toen het uitkwam de overname overeenkomst met Valeant al was getekend.

    Het probleem bij Valeant op dit moment is dat je nooit weet wanneer de beerput volledig leeg is. In het beste geval gaat Valeant een drastische herschikking van de medicijnportfolio en organisatie tegemoet (met als doel terugbrengen schulden en herstellen geloofwaardigheid in de markt). Het is nog maar zeer de vraag of de samenwerking met Pharming die reorganisatie gaat overleven.
