   Eerste steenlegging Campus Stream
   Anderlecht, 31 augustus 2023 - Op 30 augustus vond de symbolische eerste-steenlegging plaats voor Campus Stream in Anderlecht.
   
   Samen met minister Sven Gatz, burgemeester Fabrice Cumps, Koen Pelleriaux (GO!), Matthias Kerremans (Smak Architects) en Kairos werd het symbolische startschot voor de bouw van deze school gegeven.
   
   Campus Stream is een plek waar kinderen en jongeren samen kunnen leren en groeien in een veilige omgeving. De Vlaamse Gemeenschapscommissie creëert hier een nieuwe leergemeenschap en zet daarbij in op multifunctionaliteit door de aanstelling van twee onderwijsinrichtingen.
   
   De gemeente Anderlecht zal het kinderdagverblijf en de basisschool inrichten, genaamd Stroomboot. De secundaire school, met ASO-, TSO-, BSO- en STEM-studierichtingen zal worden ingericht door GO! Scholengroep Brussel, het nieuwe GO!4TECH. Na de schooluren zullen de leslokalen ook worden gebruikt door het volwassenenonderwijs, waar men de kans krijgt om zich verder te ontwikkelen en bekwamen. Daarnaast komt er een grote sportinfrastructuur voor de twee scholen. Die zal, uitgebaat door de gemeente Anderlecht, ook na de schooluren open zijn.
   
   Het was een symbolische eerste steen, want bouwwerkzaamheden door BAM Interbuild zijn reeds van start gegaan in 2022, het einde wordt verwacht tegen 2025. In schooljaar 2025-2026 zal de campus plek moeten bieden aan precies 1.280 leerlingen, waarvan 192 kleuters, 288 scholieren uit het lager onderwijs en 800 leerlingen uit het secundair onderwijs.
   
   Campus Stream wordt gebouwd op de site tussen de Walcourtstraat en de Hendri Deleersstraat in Anderlecht. Architectenbureaus SMAK Architects, Atelier Kempe Thill & Kaderstudio en Polo Architects verzorgden het ontwerp voor het toekomstige scholencomplex.

   BAM to restore historic Victoria Building at Blackburn College
   Blackburn, 11 September 2023 - BAM is set to begin work revitalising the 135-year-old Victoria Building at Blackburn College, to create a dynamic hub for adult learning, advanced skills, and community activities in the heart of Blackburn town centre.
   
   BAM to restore historic Victoria Building at Blackburn College
   The Department for Education has contributed £25m from its Further Education Capital Transfer Fund to repair, restore, and reinvigorate the building.
   
   The flagship project will see the Grade II listed heritage building, which was constructed in 1888, brought back to life as a central feature of Blackburn’s Town Centre Master Plan.
   
   The project includes constructing additional lecture theatres and converting offices back into their original uses as spacious classrooms and meeting areas.
   
   Much of the decorative panelling, ornate coving, and stained glass will also be rejuvenated, false ceilings will be removed, while a labyrinth of corridors, stairwells, and reception areas will be refreshed.
   
   One of the most dramatic transformations will involve turning the entire top level of the building into a live performance area for both student and community events.
   
   John Phillips, Regional Director at BAM, said: ‘BAM has a strong track record in restoring beautiful historic buildings and we’re known for the quality of our projects. We will work sensitively and sustainably, and we’ll support the local economy and community in Blackburn throughout the project.’
   
   Dr Fazal Dad, Principal and Chief Executive of Blackburn College, said: ‘The restoration of the Victoria Building is much more than just an upgrade of learning facilities, it will bring a magnificent community and civic asset back to life and create new opportunities for everyone.’
   
   The Deputy Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Council, Councillor Quesir Mahmood, added: ‘The Victoria Building is iconic and part of our wider development of the Blackburn Cultural Quarter. This is a fantastic commitment by the Department for Education and Blackburn College – a welcome boost for our town.’

   Ongar-Barnhill Road brings new opportunity to area
   (Press release Fingal County Council:) 11 September 2023 - Fingal County Council has appointed BAM Civil Ltd as contractor for the construction of the Ongar Barnhill Road with the sod-turning happening on Friday.
   
   The Ongar-Barnhill Road in Dublin 15 is a long-standing objective of Fingal County Council. This new high quality transportation corridor will significantly improve accessibility for sustainable and active travel modes in this fast-growing area. It will also support Fingal’s ongoing commitment to supporting the provision of new homes by providing new access to the surrounding areas of residentially zoned lands. The project consists of approximately 1.8km of road, footpath and cycling facilities and will run from the Barnwell Roundabout to Barberstown Lane South. Its key feature will be a new bridge crossing over the Dunboyne railway line.
   
   The current local road network is largely rural. With significant development having taken place in recent years, this modern infrastructure will improve road safety for everyone now and into the years to come as new development comes on stream.
   
   The Barnhill Local Area Plan was adopted by Fingal County Council in February 2019 and this road project will underpin the sustainable development of significant residential development within those LAP (Local Area Plan) lands. The area will be the site for circa 1,200 new homes with park space and commercial premises also planned for the site.
   
   The Ongar-Barnhill Road scheme also provides walking and cycling links to the Royal Canal Greenway and is designed to complement the future provision of Dart+ West, which will also strengthen the local sustainable and Active Travel network.
   
   With a construction cost of some €20 million funded by Fingal County Council’s development levies, engineering contractor BAM Civil Ltd has been appointed to commence works in September with a two-year construction programme.
   
   Today Fingal County Council celebrated the official turning of the sod as BAM moved on site and construction got underway.

   Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Adrian Henchy, says today marks a major milestone for the area. ‘Developing new housing within the Barnhill Local Area Plan lands depends on access being provided to the area. This new road will not only make it easier to travel to local schools for those already living here, it will also open the door to new housing development taking place in Dublin 15 so that families looking for a place to live can make their home within this wonderful community.’
   
   Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, AnnMarie Farrelly, says: ‘We are again using our infrastructure-first approach. By providing very high-quality roads, paths, and cycle lanes the area benefits immediately from better connectivity and when future housing development begins those homes will already be connected to the community and all the facilities that exist here such as sports centres, childcare, schools, and shops.’
   
   Paul Carroll, Senior Engineer with Fingal County Council’s Department of Planning and Strategic Infrastructure, says: ‘The Ongar-Barnhill Road will satisfy a number of needs in the area. It will provide quicker, safer journeys on foot or by bike to schools and homes in Ongar and Barnhill, it will connect local routes to the beautiful Royal Canal Greenway and most importantly it will open new space to essential housing development at a time when housing is in high demand. These are all objectives that we are very happy to be addressing as we get construction underway today.’
   
   Alasdair Henderson, Executive Director BAM Ireland, comments: ‘BAM is delighted to continue working with Fingal County Council and Clifton Scannell Emerson on this project which will enhance connectivity, promote Active Travel in the community, and facilitate the strategic development of this area for housing development.’

   BAM Wonen en Compaen vieren startbouw twintig energiezuinige sociale huurappartementen in Mierlo
   Mierlo, 11 september 2023 - In opdracht van Woningstichting Compaen ontwikkelt en bouwt BAM Wonen twintig sociale huurappartementen op de plek van de oude brandweerkazerne aan De Waag in Mierlo. Godfried van Gestel, wethouder Wonen en Ruimte van Gemeente Geldrop-Mierlo, Joost Lobée, directeur-bestuurder van Compaen en Peter Poell, directeur bij BAM Wonen, onthulden hiervoor het bouwbord. De woningen worden naar verwachting in het voorjaar van 2024 opgeleverd.
   
   ‘We zijn als Compaen erg blij dat we nu kunnen starten met de bouw van dit mooie project en daarmee de nodige mensen in het Kersendorp een passende woning te kunnen aanbieden’, aldus Joost Lobée, directeur-bestuurder van Compaen.
   
   Doelgroep
   De duurzame appartementen zijn vooral geschikt voor een- en tweepersoonshuishoudens en worden gerealiseerd volgens het WoonST-concept. De galerijappartementen beschikken allen over twee slaapkamers en hebben een grootte van 57 vierkante meter, exclusief de bergingen die zowel inpandig als uitpandig worden gesitueerd. Het plan is aan de hand van referentiewoningen ontworpen door JYB architecten uit Waalwijk.
   
   WooNST
   De appartementen zijn ontwikkeld vanuit het WoonST-concept. WoonST is een samenwerking tussen dertien woningcorporaties en negen gemeentes in het Stedelijk Gebied Eindhoven met als doel om sneller hoogwaardige en betaalbare woningen te realiseren voor huurders om daarmee de krapte op de woningmarkt te verminderen. Hierbij is uitgegaan van een gestandaardiseerde woningplattegrond, waarbij de woningcorporaties nog voldoende keuzemogelijkheden hebben in de verschijningsvorm.

   Dat is zeker een optie. Gemeenten worden in elk geval opgezadeld met heel veel extra taken, waarvoor ze ook in veel gevallen onvoldoende budget voor krijgen.

    Dat hoop ik ook. Maar ik vind dat de bam lang genoeg ervaring heeft opgedaan, in een tiental jaren voor de “Joosten-tijd” , in het aannemen van risicovolle werken, met verkeerde contracten.
    Het is mode geworden, om ,als iets fout gegaan is, te zeggen: we hebben er van geleerd..De bam is echter geen leerling bouwplaats.

    Warmond - Glaspoort maakt bekend dat het een FTTH-netwerk gaat aanleggen in Warmond, onderdeel van de gemeente Teylingen. Het gaat in totaal om ruim 2000 aansluitingen. Aannemer BAM Telecom zal naar verwachting nog dit jaar starten met de uitrol.

    BAM secures construction contract to rebuild Peebles High School
    Peebles, Scottish Borders, 11 September 2023 - Initial enabling works have concluded for the new school building, with construction to commence this autumn.
    
    At a meeting of Council on Thursday 31 August 2023, councillors unanimously agreed to proceed with the construction phase of the school build with a date for breaking ground to be confirmed.
    
    Enabling works have been ongoing at the school site since late last year and are nearing completion.
    
    An extensive engagement exercise was undertaken within the local community earlier in the year, resulting in several revisions to the design and layout of the main building based on the feedback received.
    
    The amendments include a larger and fully enclosed hall with performance space and an increase to the number of enclosed teaching spaces.
    
    Since the devastating fire of 2019, an extension to the existing sports block, including new changing rooms and gymnasium, has been completed in time for the start of the new academic year and is being used by the school students.
    
    Other elements of the initial works including the installation of a 3G pitch and running track are nearing completion and are scheduled to be finished by mid-September.
    
    BAM secures construction contract to rebuild Peebles High School
    Malcolm Keillor, Construction Director at BAM, said: ‘We’re looking forward to starting the next phase of this exciting project, to create a sustainable, modern new school for Peebles which will inspire students and provide a fantastic facility for the wider community. We will continue to support the community, working with local businesses and suppliers to deliver the new school sustainably and with maximum benefit to the local area. Peebles High School is the second school we have delivered in the Scottish Borders, having successfully delivered the award-winning Jedburgh campus in 2020.’
    
    Councillor Simon Mountford, Executive Member for Estate Management and Planning said: ‘The reality of a new school for Peebles following the devastating fire of 2019 feels closer than ever and I’m sure members of the school community and residents of the wider area will be as delighted as I am to know that construction of the main building will begin this year. It’s absolutely imperative that we deliver this school on time and that students and local residents alike can benefit from this state-of-the-art multi-functional facility. This represents a major strategic investment for the whole Tweeddale area and will undoubtedly benefit the wider community for decades to come by transforming the lives and opportunities available to those who live locally.’
    
    Scott Brown, Projects Director for Hub South East said: ‘I’d like to congratulate all parties involved in the successful handover of the sports block extension, which was ready for pupils to use on their recent return to school. We’re excited to be progressing to the next stage in this development and look forward to completing the remaining enabling works and starting main works on site. This project will deliver a new inspiring learning space for pupils and will be an asset for the wider local community, further cementing the strong partnership between Hub South East and our partners in Scottish Borders Council.’

    TWIJZELERHEIDE - De provinciale N355 tussen Noardburgum en Twijzel wordt in oktober voorzien van nieuw asfalt. De provincie Fryslân verwacht drie weken bezig te zijn en begint op 2 oktober.
    Het onderhoudswerk aan de provinciale weg N355 is vorig jaar al begonnen toen de weg tussen Quatrebras en Noardburgum werd aangepakt. Ook de kruising werd opnieuw ingericht.
    
    Aannemer BAM Infra bv gaat het werk doen en start met asfaltonderzoek en inventarisatie op schade van het wegdek. Daarna wordt het oude asfalt weggehaald en worden er nieuwe asfaltlagen aangebracht. Op de afslag richting de Zomerweg worden middengeleiders aangebracht.
    
    De werkzaamheden aan de provinciale weg vinden plaats tussen Noardburgum en de rotonde bij Twijzel. Er wordt door BAM Infra bv 's nachts gewerkt aan de weg waardoor deze volledig is afgesloten voor alle verkeer. Op maandag 2 oktober om 20.00 uur wordt er gestart en het werkt moet op 21 oktober klaar zijn.
    
    Op doordeweekse dagen tussen 06.00 uur en 20.00 uur en in het weekend kan het verkeer langs de werkzaamheden rijden. In de nachten (tussen 20.00 uur en 06.00 uur) is de weg dicht voor alle verkeer.
