North American lithium producer Sayona Mining Limited (Sayona) (ASX:SYA; OTCQB:SYAXF), announces the discovery and expansion of new mineralised zones at the Company’s North American Lithium (NAL) operation (SYA 75%; Piedmont Lithium 25%) in Québec, Canada.

The newly discovered zones are poised to become a focal point for NAL’s assessment of future mining options. Initial assessments indicate the presence of high-grade lithium mineralisation outside the MRE pit shell which may represent a substantial addition to NAL’s resource portfolio and may contribute to extending NAL’s life of mine.

The 2023 drill program has successfully highlighted the potential of the NAL mine located in Québec’s highly prospective Abitibi-Temiscamingue region and confirm the possible conversion of Inferred resources to ASX Announcement ACN 091 951 978 13 May 2024 2 xx April 2024 ACN 091 951 978 Measured and Indicated categories within the MRE pit shell. The program aimed to increase and secure the resource base of the operation while targeting a high reserve conversion rate.

Sayona’s Interim CEO, James Brown commented, “We are very excited by these new discoveries at North American Lithium which highlights the potential of this asset with high-grade mineralisation defined to the north-west, north-east, south-east and below the existing MRE. The team at NAL will now be working to update the Mineral Resource incorporating these significant results. We look forward to continue testing the mineralisation at NAL with further drilling underway

Drilling of high priority targets commences at Tabba Tabba

    Highlights

    - Reverse circulation (RC) drilling has commenced at the Tabba Tabba Lithium Project along strike from recent exploration by Wildcat Resources that has identified encouraging lithium mineralisation.
    - New gravity survey data identifies zones of significant interest allowing prioritisation of RC drilling and targets for future testing along a 7.5km strike extent within the lease.
    - Initial programme of deeper drilling over high potential targets for a total of 2,000+ metres.

North American lithium producer Sayona Mining Limited (“Sayona”) (ASX:SYA; OTCQB:SYAXF) has commenced RC drilling (Figure 1) at its wholly owned Tabba Tabba Lithium Project, E45/2364 in Western Australia where previous air core drilling identified high potential pegmatite systems.
A recently completed gravity survey has helped focus deeper RC drilling over two areas along a 7.5km prospective corridor (Figure 2). The northern area is located immediately south of the historic Tabba Tabba tantalum mine, where recent exploration by Wildcat Resources has identified encouraging lithium mineralisation including the Leia and Luke Pegmatites.
The initial 2,000+ metre RC drilling program consists of 14 holes with nine located in the North Area immediately south of Wildcat Resources tenements and a further five holes located at the Roadside Prospect approximately 4.5km south and along strike. Further drilling will be conducted throughout 2024 as geological information is built up over the area, largely under thin colluvial cover.
Sayona has secured a co-funding grant for drilling at Tabba Tabba under Round 29 of the Western Australian Governments Exploration Incentive Scheme (EIS). The grant of up to $180,000 will help fund innovative exploration drilling in the search for flat lying spodumene pegmatite systems within the Tabba Tabba lease.
Sayona’s Director and Interim CEO, James Brown commented, “We are excited to have commenced RC drilling over the highly prospective Tabba Tabba lease which has known lithium mineralisation in close proximity and along strike.
Previous soil sampling and air core drilling identified areas of anomalous geochemistry that have been confirmed to also contain gravity features of significance. We now intend to test these targets with RC and possibly diamond drilling as supported by results.
We are highly committed to our wholly owned Western Australian lithium assets and intend to continue an active exploration program over the 2024 field season.”

Moblan drilling delivers thick, high grade intersections
North American lithium producer Sayona Mining Limited (“Sayona”) (ASX:SYA; OTCQB:SYAXF) announced today the results from 94 new drillholes totalling 20,735 metres at its Moblan Lithium Project (Sayona 60%; Investissement Quebec 40%), demonstrating the high grade nature of this highly strategic asset.

The drilling program was designed to test extensions to mineralisation and provide in-fill data for the upgrade of Mineral Resource categories. Individual dykes have been documented and modelled comprising the Main Zone, South Zone, Inter Zone and Moleon domain. The latest drilling results include the identification of high-grade lithium mineralisation outside the Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) pit shells, particularly in the Inter Zone Area, and support conversion of some of the Inferred resources to Indicated category within the MRE pit shells. In 2023, an additional 41 holes for 6,872 metres were also completed for geotechnical and sterilisation purposes.

The new drillhole results reinforce the project’s status as the centrepiece of Sayona’s Eeyou-Istchee James Bay hub in northern Quebec, and highlight its potential to expand the existing mineral resource base at Moblan.

Sayona’s Interim CEO, James Brown commented: “We are delighted with the thick, high-grade drilling results at Moblan confirming it is one of the premier hard rock lithium deposits in North America. Most excitingly, it is clear there remains considerable potential for further expansion of the deposit which is open in all directions.

The results reported today have highlighted extensions to known mineralisation and most significantly a number of new zones of mineralisation. The drilling has also identified mineralisation between known zones and MRE pit shells which has the potential to increase the mineral resource estimate.

We are receiving and assessing further drilling results from the 2023 program and will report those to shareholders as soon as possible. Additionally, we have now commenced a further drilling program to be completed throughout 2024.

Moblan forms the centrepiece of our James Bay lithium hub and has an extremely bright future supplying Québec-produced lithium derivatives into the expanding North American battery and EV sector.”

Canada considers surtax on Chinese critical minerals, batteries, and semiconductors.
Canada's move to impose a potential surtax on Chinese critical minerals, batteries, and related products comes amid rising trade tensions between the two nations. This follows recent tariffs on Chinese imports as part of a broader strategy to protect Canadian industries from state-backed Chinese overcapacity.
