Klopt. Verder blijven de prijzen voor lithium concentraat hoog. De CEO van concurrent Pilbara maakt zich daar geen zorgen over. Die stelt in een artikel van 8 augustus:
He also noted that the price of lithium concentrate (spodumene) had held up well at $US850-$US950 a tonne.
Pilbara Minerals began spodumene production in June as part of its 2mtpa stage one Pilgangoora lithium tantalum project south of Port Hedland, which will produce 330,000tpa of concentrate.
The company released a definitive feasibility study last month which supported a $231 million stage 2 expansion of Pilgangoora to a 5mtpa capacity project producing 800,000-850,000t of spodumene concentrate over a 17-year mine life.
“At Pilbara, there is nothing wrong with the demand side,” Mr Brinsden said.
“If we could produce more, we could sell it.”
