    IET announces awards finalists

    The IET 2010 Innovation Awards attracted a very impressive list of entries and the finalists have now been announced (listed below).

    The competition attracted entries from around the globe, demonstrating the innovation and imagination of engineers as they tackle their own local, economic and social challenges.

    The winners will be announced live on stage by Suzi Perry during the gala IET Awards ceremony at ‘The Brewery’, London on 24 November 2010

    SHORTLISTED ENTRIES FOR 2010 AUTOMOTIVE INNOVATION AWARD

    The Award, which recognises innovative products, technologies and ideas which have the potential to transform the automotive sector, was launched in September and received a significant number of outstanding entries, representing a broad spectrum of the UK motor industry, including cars, components, aftermarket and commercial vehicles.

    Supported by sponsoring partners, GKN Driveline and The Mail on Sunday’s Live Magazine, the award will be judged by a panel of industry experts, including Dave Salt, chief engineer, GKN Driveline, Dr George Gillespie, chief executive officer, MIRA, Joe Greenwell, chairman, Ford of Britain and president, SMMT, Paul Everitt, chief executive, SMMT and Simon Lewis, motoring editor, Mail on Sunday Live magazine.

    Shortlisted companies have been invited to present to the panel to describe their innovation and explain its potential benefits for the sector.

    The winner will be announced and presented with the award at SMMT’s Annual Dinner on 23 NOVEMBER at the London Hilton Park Lane.

    The winner will be selected from a shortlist of six entries, which are:

    •Antonov Automotive Technologies Ltd, the three-speed powershift transmission for electric vehicles
    •Gordon Murray Design Ltd, the iStream®
    •innovITS, innovITS ADVANCE
    •Intelligent Energy, the fuel cell hybrid taxi
    •McLaren Automotive, carbon fibre MonoCell
    •MUSIC 2-Stroke Engine Consortium, merritt high-efficiency two-stroke petrol engine
    “I’m delighted with the number and range of companies that entered SMMT’s inaugural Automotive Innovation Award”, said SMMT’s chief executive, Paul Everitt. “All entries demonstrated the potential to add value to the UK and global motor industry, which made the process of creating a shortlist of entries challenging. The breadth of innovations submitted is testament to the range of skills within our sector and clearly demonstrates the potential for the UK to be a world leader in ultra-low carbon development and design.”

    The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) is one of the largest and most influential trade associations in the UK. It supports the interests of the UK automotive industry at home and abroad, promoting a united position to government, stakeholders and the media.

    The automotive industry is a vital part of the UK economy with £40 billion turnover and £8.5 billion value added. With over 700,000 jobs dependent on the industry, it accounts for 9% of total UK exports and invests £1 billion each year in R&D. In the last ten years, huge strides have been made to reduce the environmental impact of its products throughout the life cycle. Improvements in production processes mean energy used to produce vehicles is down 28%, water use is down 34% and 73% less waste enters landfill sites. Average new car tailpipe CO2 emissions have also been slashed and are down 17% compared to 2000 levels.     US GAAP is een term die binnen het vakgebied van externe verslaggeving wordt gebruikt en die staat voor 'United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles'. De term US GAAP wordt gebruikt om het stelsel van verslaggevings- en accountingprincipes aan te duiden die worden gebruikt in de Verenigde Staten.

    US GAAP is samen met IFRS het belangrijkste stelsel van verslaggevingsregels en het wordt naast door Amerikaanse, ook door niet-Amerikaanse bedrijven gebruikt die op de Amerikaanse markt en aandelenbeurzen actief zijn.

    Het is dus niet GAAP maar IFRS! Als Antonov volgens GAAP zou boekhouden, dan zaten ze reeds op het strafbankje wegens een negatief eigen vermogen.

    Zeker GAAP. Beantwoorden van vragen m.b.t. Antonov doe je niet. Nog maar eens:

    Wederom commentaar. Probeer nu is inhoudelijk te posten op dit forum. Probeer je eigen uitspraak is te onderbouwen.

    Waar maak je dat uit op dat Landai op koers is?

    Moet toch geen probleem zijn voor je om dat toe te lichten. Ben benieuwd.

    Silvia schreef het gisteren al dat ze niet zouden winnen.

    Het is het allemaal net niet bij Antonov.

    Overigens is deze 3-speed in mijn ogen geen (nieuwe) innovatie. Dat ding hebben ze al is proberen te slijten. Kijk de historie er maar op na.
