    Do you really want to see the end of the game controller?

    Video-game players know that they look ridiculous trying to pull kung fu moves, perform silky football skills or drive at 200mph. That is why they use joypads to go into a world where they can do all of these things. Project Natal threatens to burst that bubble where gamers become a kung fu hero.

    Microsoft’s motion-contol system is for the rest of the population who get daunted by all the buttons on a game controller. It is about making gaming more intuitive and simple. It is also why Nintendo’s Wii console has been such a success.

    So motion-control looks here to stay. What else is to come?

    Barclays-Indikator: Wirtschaft setzt vorerst ihre Aufholjagd fort

    Die deutsche Wirtschaft wächst weiter. Der Handelsblatt-Barclays-Indikator sagt ein solides Wirtschaftswachstum im ersten Quartal für Deutschland vorher. Allerdings fällt die Entwicklung in den vergangenen Monaten sehr gemischt aus.

    China Trade Rebound Aids Global Economic Recovery (Update1)

    Jan. 11 (Bloomberg) -- China’s exports surged in December and imports rose to a record in a stronger-than-forecast trade rebound that may lessen the case for governments to sustain stimulus programs this year.

    Exports climbed 17.7 percent from a year earlier, the first increase in 14 months, and imports jumped 55.9 percent, the customs bureau said on its Web site yesterday. Year-on-year comparisons are affected by the tumble that began in late 2008, when the global credit crisis deepened.

    Dubai’s First Foreclosure May Open Floodgates in Worst Market

    Jan. 11 (Bloomberg) -- Dubai’s housing rout sent prices down 52 percent in the past year, prompting some homeowners to abandon their cars and mortgage payments and flee the country. Not one received a foreclosure notice.

    Until now.

    Barclays Plc won the sheikdom’s first foreclosure cases in court, clearing the way for lenders holding about $16 billion of Dubai home loans to take action when borrowers don’t pay. Islamic lender Tamweel PJSC, the emirate’s biggest mortgage bank, has several of its own foreclosure claims pending and estimates about 3 percent of its mortgages are in default.

    SABMiller Said to Drop Femsa Bid, Making Heineken Likely Buyer

    Heineken is close to an agreement to buy Femsa’s beer operations for about $8 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday, citing people familiar with the matter. London-based SABMiller dropped out in December, said the person, who declined to be identified because the talks are private.

    De prijzen die op de secundaire markt worden geboden voor effecten van de failliete Amerikaanse zakenbank Lehman Brothers zijn weer geleidelijk aan het stijgen. Een duidelijker teken dat het optimisme langzaam maar zeker de overhand neemt in de financiële sector is nauwelijks denkbaar.
