    Tata Leads Way As Indian Firms Turn Predators Abroad
    Outbound investments from India this calendar year total $7.2 billion.

    Oct. 11, 2006 -- India's giant Tata group is leading the way as cash-flush companies go on an overseas buying spree, racing to acquire a global footprint. Earlier this year, Tata bought a 30% stake in New York-based Energy Brands Inc. for $677 million, India's biggest cross-border acquisition so far.


    Now India's largest private sector group with $22 billion in annual sales is eyeing a far bigger prize. On Oct. 5 it said it was considering a bid for top British steelmaker Corus group that analysts have valued at up to $10.4 billion. The combined group would be among the top ten global steel industry players in output terms.

    Indian "companies now have the financial muscle and operational skills to make these sorts of acquisitions," said Anjan Roy, economic advisor to the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

    India's outbound investment could even top inbound foreign direct investment (FDI), according to figures from British data provider Dealogic. Outbound investments from India this calendar year total $7.2 billion, up from $4.5 billion in all of last year. That is triple the amount from the year before, said Dealogic, which counted 112 foreign acquisitions in 2005 which would work out to about three a week. If the Tata acquisition of Corus happens, India could see outbound investments exceed the $12 billion s worth of FDI forecast by Commerce Minister Kamal Nath for 2006.

    The spending spree is being driven by strong profits, access to historically lower Indian interest rates, and deregulation which has enabled less costly overseas borrowings, said Deepak Lalwani, director of London brokerage Astaire and Partners.

    Information technology and pharmaceutical firms were the first to make the deals before others joined the fray. Cash-rich and eager to venture into new markets, gain access to natural resources, acquire technology or bulk up on size, Indian firms have been snapping up whatever suits their business plans.

    Steel giant Arcelor-Mittal added to its recent string of gains, climbing 2.7 percent to 29.87 euros on rumours of a takeover bid for British steel group Corus.

    EADS was the star performer of the day, bouncing 3.6 percent to 20.89 euros after the heavy selling over the past few days, as uncertainty over the future management structure at its Airbus unit ended with the resignation of CEO Christian Streiff, who was replaced by EADS co-CEO Louis Gallois.

    Gallois said he plans to carry through with the Power8 restructuring and cost-cutting plan set out by Streiff last week, and investors are also hoping for a streamlined chain of command between Airbus and its parent company.

    In Frankfurt, Commerzbank led blue-chips higher, adding 2.34 percent to 27.12 euros.

    Deutsche Boerse, the operator of the Frankfurt stock exchange, gained 1.94 percent to 129.70 euros.

    Brokers pointed to a report published October 7 in the Wall Street Journal that said Deutsche Boerse and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange were considering a merger.

    Elsewhere in Europe, in Madrid the Ibex-35 hit a fresh record high at 13 234.5 points after a rise of 0.69 percent.

    In Amsterdam the AEX closed up 0.53 percent at 489.80 points, in Milan the Sp/Mib climbed 0.62 percent to 39 323 points, the Brussels Bel 20 went up 0.52 percent to 4124.64 points and the Swiss SMI index rose 0.92 percent to close at 8627.2 points.

    Arcadis krijgt opdracht Corus Aluminium in Belgie11 okt 2006, 08:29 uur
    AMSTERDAM (Dow Jones)--Arcadis heeft een opdracht verworven van Corus Aluminium in de Belgische plaats Duffel. Het project heeft een looptijd van 2,5 jaar en de contractwaarde bedraagt EUR2 miljoen.

    Op de lokatie in Duffel produceert Corus aluminium halffabrikaten. Het concern zal een deel van het machinepark verplaatsen en er zullen nieuwe machines worden toegevoegd. Arcadis verzorgt ten behoeve van Corus Aluminium de coordinatie van het project en het masterplan, het bouwkundige ingenieurswerk, de coordinatie van het installatiewerk en het bouwplaatsmanagement.

    damn!!! rit gemist van circa tussen 9:00 en 9:10..............weer paniek naar 6,91 met klein volume dumpertje waarna grote koper weer bestens koop.....advies: niet in paniek raken, blijven zitten en heb vertrouwen.

    In UK in de plus momenteel. Dus in Amsterdam moet er nog 10 cent bij.

    Ja Buff, ik heb het ook net gemist. Was nog even wat programma's aan het opstarten en toen stonden we weer boven de 7. Jammer, Jammer. Wel opvallend dat je in het begin van de ( zeer dunne) handel met heel weinig volume de koers ruim 20 cent kunt drukken. Never nooit stoplosses dus aan het begin van de handel opgeven lijkt mij.

    Gokje half gelukt. Gister op 7.06 een deel verkocht en daarna order ingelegd op 6.89. Uiteindelijk teruggekocht op 7.01. Het lijkt me dat Tata Steel deze dagen van onzekerheid benut om rustig rond de 7 in te kopen.

    Kijk er wordt gewoon gekeken wie er nog zo dom is ze los te laten.
    Verder is het wachten op het bod wat er gaat komen.
    logisch dat het niet in de run werd gedaan dan hadden we nu op 11 euro gestaan even de zaak af laten koelen en op deze wijze alles uit de markt halen!
    Elk gevist aandeel is er 1 nu.
    Dat we niet echt ver terug zakken dat zal toch wel duidelijk zijn mag ik aannemen.

    bij ditsoort dalingen moet je gewoon bijkopen :) en daarna lekker blijven zitten tot eind dit jaar, dan krijg je een leuke KERSTCADEAU.... :)

    Ben er ook even helemaal uit. Zoek geschikt moment om in te stappen. Koers vertoont het gedrag van eerdere geruchten stromen. Nog steeds geen off. reactie van Corus. Dat geeft mij te denken. Cash is king.
