    Generex Biotechnology Makes Podium Presentation of Clinical Data at ESPE 2006

    TORONTO--(MARKET WIRE)--Jul 11, 2006 -- Generex Biotechnology Corporation (NASDAQ:GNBT - News), a leader in the area of buccal drug delivery, announced today that on July 1, 2006 Gerald Bernstein, M.D., the Company's Vice-President for Medical Affairs, made a podium presentation in respect of Generex Oral-lyn(TM), the Company's proprietary oral insulin spray product, at the 45th Annual Meeting of the European Society for Paediatric Endocrinology (www.espe2006.org) in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

    Dr. Bernstein presented a paper entitled "3-Month Interim Results (6-Month Study) on Safety and Efficacy of an Oral Insulin (Generex Oral-lyn) Administered at Lunchtime in Juvenile Type-1 Diabetes Mellitus Subjects Maintained on Basal Glargine Insulin and Pre-Breakfast and Pre-Dinner Regular Insulin." The paper was co-authored by Drs. Jaime Guevara-Aguirre, Marco Guevara-Aguirre and Jeannette Saavedra, all of the Institute of Endocrinology IEMYR in Quito, Ecuador.

    Dr. Bernstein presented interim results of a long-term study of 24 adolescents and five young adults with Type-1 diabetes who replaced prandial subcutaneous injections of insulin with split doses of Generex Oral-lyn (i.e. puffs before and after meals). The interim results (three months) of the on-going study (i.e. parameters of metabolic control) indicate that Generex Oral-lyn can effectively replace prandial subcutaneous injections of regular insulin.

    Generex believes that this approach offers a new diabetes treatment paradigm by offering improved efficacy (as Generex Oral-lyn is better at mimicking the healthy body's natural insulin production) and patient compliance (no painful injections) resulting in greater metabolic stability thereby better controlling diabetes and reducing the complications associated with it. Treatment of adolescents with Type-1 DM is challenging and Generex chose to replace the lunchtime dose because it is this dose that is most frequently associated with non-compliance.

    The Company believes that Generex Oral-lyn can make a significant contribution to the achievement and maintenance of metabolic stabilization by providing a safe, simple, fast, effective, flexible, and familiar alternative to prandial insulin injections.

    As a pain-free and convenient method of insulin delivery that is better at mimicking the healthy body's natural insulin production, Generex Oral-lyn will allow individual patients to "fine tune" and then maintain their metabolism resulting in an improved quality of life; the increased metabolic stability will provide better control of diabetes and reduce the complications associated with it.

    The study is of particular significance in that the participants are juveniles and young adults, a notoriously difficult group to treat successfully due to the prevalence of non-compliance, particularly in respect of prandial insulin injections. Generex Oral-lyn has been approved in Ecuador for the treatment of juveniles with Type-1 or Type-2 diabetes.

    Ze komen bijna iedere dag wel met pb s nu,alleen die waar we op wachten namelijk dat het geld echt gaat binnen stromen nog niet,vandaar die stilstaande koers denk ik.

    Nabeurs toch wat handel behoorlijk hoger dan het slot...
    Het gaat niet om enorme aantallen, maar het zijn ook niet enkele stukkies..

    Ik denk dat deze daling niet veroorzaakt word door slecht nieuws.
    De hele bio industrie daalt,generex dus ook.

    Ik ben van mening, mits dat het niet veel gekker word dat gnbt het er nog aardig vanaf brengt.

    Deze tijd van het jaar word altijd veel geld van de beurs gehaald,
    na de vakantie periode komt dat wel weer terug.

    Ik blijf hier vol inzitten,vol vertrouwen, heb nog niet veel verlies,nu even ongeveer 20% maar dat zegt niks,ik vind het nog wel mee vallen hier.Al het nieuws moet de komende weken,maand nog komen.De fout die ik wel gemaakt heb is dat ik beter in de nazomer kon zijn ingestapt want dat is ieder jaar al de beste tijd geweest de laatste jaren,maar goed ik kon het niet laten om al eerder te gaan.

    Trains Planes And Automobiles / GNBT (Not rated) 14-Jul-06 07:21 pm I feel lime John Candy, with my portfolio (with GNBT) as my vehicle, and everyone is screaming "You're going the wrong way!" It may look that way today, and no one can be happy seeing the pps of GNBT drop, but if you believe in the product, you know this is just the beginning. You may not hear any "official news" on Ecuador until late Oct, or does that mean the first week of Nov? But if you listen close enough to the news down South, you can tell things are beginning to move along. I see more articles about Oral-lyn in Ecaudor, than I do about Exubera in the USA.
    I hope the better days are close up ahead.

    Deze daling van de laatste dagen heeft gewoon met de algehele paniek op de beurs te maken,niets met gnbt.Als je ze nu verkoopt zit je fout aangezien de komende weken al het goede nieuws gaat komen.Er verschijnen de laatste maanden overal zeer positieve berichten overal vandaan over de inhalatie techniek van oral-lyn,we staan aan het begin van deze periode,en ze zijn met nog veel meer van die inovatieve produkten bezig,als er een aanslaat spuit de koers omhoog,en dan hebben we ook nog vogelgriep die in het najaar absoluut weer terug komt.Er wijst niets op dat er iets is wat een stijging in de weg gaat staan (buiten de slechte ontwikkelingen in Israel dan).
