Dec 7 (Reuters) - South Korea and the Netherlands, two of the leading players in the global semiconductor market, will establish a "chip alliance" during President Yoon Suk Yeol's state visit next week, Yonhap news agency said on Thursday, citing Yoon's office.
During his trip, Yoon plans to visit ASML , the world's leading maker of lithography equipment which is critical in making semiconductors, and discuss stronger partnerships on chip supply chains, his office said earlier.
ASML, a supplier to South Korean chip giants Samsung Electronics <005930.KS> and SK Hynix <000660.KS>, is building a new assembly facility in South Korea with an investment of 240 billion won ($180.86 million), according to Yoon's office.
Between Dec. 11 and 14, Yoon is set to make the first state visit by a South Korean leader to the Netherlands since the two countries established diplomatic relations.
