    The six joint ventures in line to construct the proposed £100M Boston Barrier will be told who the winning bid is in the next month.

    The tender to build the scheme has been put out to all those on asset delivery lot of the Environment Agency's water and environment management framework.

    The JVs and firms on the framework are:

    BMM – Bam Nuttall, Mott MacDonald

    GBV – Galliford Try, Black & Veatch

    JacksonHyder - Jackson Civil Engineering and Hyder Consulting

    JN Bentley, JBA

    Team Van Oord – Van Oord, Kier Group, Mackley and Royal HaskoningDHV

    VBA consortium – VolkerStevin, Boskalis Westminster, Atkins

    The project will see a 25m wide 'rising cill' barrier installed in the tidal Boston Haven, to be raised to 7.55m above ordnance datum using hydraulic cylinders when needed. Preliminary design has been carried out by Mott MacDonald.

    The Barrier is part of the Boston Combined Strategy that will reduce the risk of tidal flooding to over 17,000 properties in the area. The need for such a barrier was raised after a tidal surge flooded 579 homes in the area in the winter of 2013.

    The Port of Boston has formally withdrew its objection to a Transport and Works Act Order (TWAO) for the Barrier in March. The project is now at the public inquiry stage.

    The TWAO application was made by the Environment Agency in August 2016 after the project was approved by the government in December 2014.

    If approved by the government, works could start by the end of the year.

    A Bam Nuttall and Mott MacDonald joint venture (JV) has been announced as the preferred bidder for the M Boston Barrier flood defence scheme.

    The team will carry out the detailed design and construction of the barrier and the associated works in the surrounding area.

    The JV was one of six initial teams to apply for the contract . The race narrowed to four as two teams dropped out due to the complexity of the project before the tender package was sent out to bidders. A further team dropped out mid-tender as it emerged there were limited suppliers to join the bidders for the specialist gate needed.

    Speaking at New Civil Engineer's Flood Management Forum 2017 , Environment Agency programme manager Jim Anderson said the three remaining teams offered high quality bids, but the BMM JV had won on a 60% quality, 40% cost evaluation.

    Funding for the scheme is being provided wholly by government funding streams.

    “Due to the sheer volume of properties that will be protected by the scheme, 100% of the funding is being provided by the government,” said Anderson.

    This is in contrast to the similar coastal flood barrier scheme currently being built in Ipswich where 50% of the funding is being provided by the government with the remaining coming from partnerships.

    Technical, project and cost management support is being provided by a Turner Townsend and CH2M joint venture. Dutch company Holandia will supply the gate at the centre of the barrier.

    The project is now waiting on both a Transport Works Act Order (TWAO) and the full business case with a value of M to be given final approval. It is hoped that these will both be approved at the end of November.

    The team is currently carrying out an advanced package of works for the barrier before starting on site pending the final go ahead being given.

    “The business case is a high quality document which has been engineered to make it as smooth as possible for it to go swiftly through the approvals process,” said Anderson. “We are super confident it will be given the go ahead.”

    Bij het Hagemeyer werkte dit perfect. Voda was daar de informele en door iedereen erkende en geaccepteerde forumleider. Bij mijn weten is daar nooit een post verwijderd. Hier is het helaas schering en inslag en het fatsoen vaak ver te zoeken. triest maar ook vervelend voor en ondankbaar naar IEX die via deze fora een mooie gelegenheid biedt om kennis en ervaring uit te wisselen en van elkaar te leren.

    Google is close to signing a deal to acquire the entire Boland's Quay scheme in Dublin's docklands, the Irish Independent can reveal. News of the US web giant's bid to buy the €170m development which is located next to its European headquarters on Barrow Street comes just days after this newspaper's sister title, the Sunday Independent reported that the company is now in the process of acquiring the Treasury Building on Dublin's Grand Canal Street for a figure in excess of €120m.

    Google's latest foray into the capital's property market will, according to sources familiar with the matter, see it "step into the shoes of the receiver" appointed by Nama to develop out the entirety of the Boland's Quay project. It would also see the international tech titan take its place as one of Ireland's biggest and most important property owners and investors.

    While Google had been identified earlier this year as being one of number of parties interested in acquiring a part of the scheme known as Boland's Mills for an estimated €11m, the Irish Independent understands the company effectively removed the competition by stating its desire to purchase the entire project.

    Designed by Dublin architectural practice Burke Kennedy Doyle, Boland's Quay will, upon completion, include three new landmark buildings, with the tallest rising to 53 metres (173 ft). There will also be a 15-storey apartment block rising to 47.8 metres (157 ft) and a 13-storey office block of 49 metres (161 ft).

    Capable of accommodating 2,500 workers, the scheme will comprise some 36,851 square metres of office, residential, retail and cultural space. This will be made up of 25,455 sq m (274,000 sq ft) of office space, 41 waterfront apartments, and retail and commercial space of 1,394 sq m (15,000sq ft). The project will also include a new pedestrian bridge, two new civic plazas with water frontage to Grand Canal Dock and a cultural/community space of 549 sq m (5,910 sq ft).

    BAM Ireland won the contract to deliver the scheme earlier this year.

    Both the Boland's Quay and Treasury Building transactions are in keeping with Google's preference for owning its own premises. In 2011, the company bought its European headquarters on Barrow Street and the nearby Montevetro building for €100m and €99m respectively.

    Google's two latest deals also serve as a statement of its intent to deepen its investment in Dublin, and to grow its 6,100-strong workforce in the capital.

    In the case of the Treasury Building, the Irish Independent first revealed Google's interest in buying the building outright last February. Around the same time, the company increased its presence on Grand Canal Street with an agreement to lease 51,096 sq ft from Irish Life at the newly-constructed Velasco Building.

    The Velasco, Treasury Building and Boland's Quay are all located within a five-minute walk of each other, and in close proximity to Google's European headquarters on Barrow Street, the acknowledged heart of an area now commonly known as 'Googletown'.

    Bunnik, 15 maart 2017 – BAM Contractors Ltd, de Ierse werkmaatschappij van Koninklijke BAM Groep nv, heeft opdracht verworven voor de bouw en renovatie van Bolands Quay (voorheen Boland’s Mill) in Dublin. Opdrachtgever is Bolands Quay Development Group.

    In het gebied in Dublin Docklands worden drie nieuwe gebouwen gerealiseerd met een totale vloeroppervlakte van 36,851 m2 voor kantoren, woningen, winkels en culturele voorzieningen. Het Ierse archirectenbureau Burke Kennedy Doyle is verantwoordelijk voor het ontwerp.

    Daarnaast voorziet de opdracht in de renovatie van een aantal beschermde pakhuizen, een plein met uitzicht op het Grand Canal Dock en een voetgangersbrug.
