China had trimmed crude steel production capacity by over 58 million tonnes by the end of June, surpassing the full-year goal of 50 million tonnes, local media reported. The country had also cut coal capacity by 111 million tonnes in the first half of the year, 74% of the 150-million-tonne target for 2017.
China’s steel production hub of Tangshan city in Hebei province has cut capacity of crude steel by 4.67 million tonnes and that of hot metal by 3.81 million tonnes so far this year, which accounts for 53.81% of the full-year target, state-owned Xinhua News Agency reported on Wednesday citing the local government.
