The EIC will provide teaching and research space for the university in Preston city centre.
BAM is expected to begin construction in January 2017 and complete during summer 2018.
The new building is the first stage in UCLan’s 235€m campus masterplan. As a signature project within Lancashire’s strategic economic plan, it and has secured 12€m from the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership's (LEP) Lancashire ‘growth deal’ with central government.
It has further 6€m from the Education Funding Council for England, which will go towards equipping the facility with technology and equipment. An application for European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) funding has also been made to enhance engagement between the university and local engineering companies.
UCLan chief operating officer Michael Ahern said: “The selection of BAM Construction is excellent news and takes us even closer to realising our vision for the EIC. BAM has extensive experience in the education sector and recent key projects include the University of Manchester’s National Graphene Institute, University College London Academy, and University of Arts London’s St Martin’s Campus.”
