    Heel Amerika staat vol met duizenden (5.000+) onverkoopbare Saabs in verkeerde uitvoeringen (zonder navigatie bijvoorbeeld). Die auto's voorzien ze van Chinese instructieboekjes en zetten ze vervolgens op de boot naar China. Op die manier zijn de Amerikaanse dealers blij, zijn de Chinezen blij en hoeven er geen nieuwe auto's gebouwd te worden.
    en kunnen ze die 30mil gelijk doorschuiven naar de US ipv naar de Zweedse leveranciers...

    De Amerikaanse importeur is een 100% dochter van Saab Zweden. Dat is dus een broekzak-vestzak verhaal.

    ok, in dat geval zou die 30mil dus wel meegeteld kunnen worden. Dan is het wachten dus nu nog op EIB, het binnenkomen van het Chineze geld, een overeenkomst met de leveranciers en het herstarten van hun productie. Inmiddels is ook VM er achter dat binnen een week misschien iets te optimitisch was ;)

    Dat somt het idd aardig op ;) Wel apart dat de pers er nog geen lucht van heeft gekregen dat het opstarten van de productie nog weken en weken gaat duren.

    EIB balls back to Saab on loan

    European Investment Bank (EIB) hinted on Tuesday in a press release that a bit of problem in the case of Saab's loans and the need for urgent response from the Bank is that Saab is constantly making proposals for amendments by the EIB must take a position.

    In other states not EIB specify a more general explanation for why it takes so long for the bank to investigate Saab's application.

    "During the ongoing process to develop Saab's various short-and medium-term financing package, Saab has introduced a large number of amendments, which requires coordinated evaluation by the Bank and other interested parties," the EIB in the press release.

    "The EIB is ready to do their part to pave the way for a solution to the funding of Saab in accordance with our role as a financier," the bank.

    Yesterday it was announced that Saab Automobile in Trollhättan has signed an agreement with Chinese car distributors Pang Da. A deal that will secure Saab’s shaky finances in the short term. But there are reports that Saab is facing resistance within the Swedish government. The Russian financier Vladimir Antonov spokesman Lars Carlström argued in Aftonbladet yesterday that the government wants to destroy the company. And according to sources with good insight into the Saab is that same sense of the management of the company. Saab may no longer any direct contact with Maud Olofsson. “They’re very surprised,” said the source to Aftonbladet.

    Trollhättan Mayor Paul Åkerlund is critical of the government’s actions. According to former professional base of Saab Automobile are the highest resistance against the car company in the Finance Ministry and the Prime Minister’s Office.

    “Maud Olofsson has not spoken to Saab since last summer”

    Trollhättan/London. Saab has found a new Chinese partner. Now everyone wonders if that means anything.

    Antonov camp is supported from several directions after the gambit on a secret government agenda.

    The government wants to eliminate the Saab before the next election. It claimed Lars Carlström, Swedish representative of Russian Vladimir Antonov, to Aftonbladet yesterday.

    - I do not share Carl’s views on the Swedish government, says Saab owner Victor Muller officially.
    Gunnar Brunius, purchasing and production director at Saab, reacting with surprise when he read Carl’s attack.

    But according to a source with good insight, Saab’s Swedish managing have the same feeling. The ailing company has not had any direct contact with Maud Olofsson since summer 2010:

    - When she attended a dinner with Saab. Since then, they looked for her every day. They are very surprised that they can not connect, says Aftonbladet informant.

    Saab alarmed now by Olofsson’s behavior since the Debt Office approved Vladimir Antonov in April.

    - First, she said: “Let Riksgälden try this, then we will decide.” When the National Debt Office said yes, Olofsson stood at the back of the queue again and said: “Let the EIB test Antonov, then we take the position”.

    Yesterday was published the details of the planned agreement with China’s largest car distributor Pang Da. They should not make Saab cars, just sell them in China, and puts also in 989 million SEK to the company.

    - There are certainly advantages to the just distribution. Saab needs to sell cars, “says Sven-Åke Berglie, president of Automotive Component Group.

    Now he is in the part of Lars Carlström´s criticism:

    - The government should take the lead, not wait for the EIB.

    Labor union chief Stefan Löfven is critical of Maud Olofsson’s statement that Saab “Makes cars that nobody wants to buy”:

    - No other car manufacturer country’s government has even been close to such remarks about his automotive industry.

    Paul Akerlund, mayor of Trollhättan and former Labor union chief at the Saab factory, is careful when he says Lars Carl’s allegations against the government.

    - I hope it is not true. But it is impossible for me to know if it’s true, “He says when he receives Aftonbladet at the town hall.

    According to Lars Carlström, an official at the Finance Ministry as saying that “Sweden can do without the Saab”.

    Paul Akerlund agrees that the resistance is on the finance department – and Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt. Maud Olofsson, plays a minor role in this context, he believes.

    It says Victor Muller in an exclusive interview for TTELA, after having returned to Saab after China adventure.

    - It has driven me throughout this time is the responsibility I feel for the employees, "he says.

    Beijing-Mallorca-Washington-Beijing-Trollhättan. The point of Victor Muller's frequent-flyer account is said to be fully stocked right after the events of recent weeks. He settles down in one of the large chairs in the conference room at Saab's main port.

    The signs of fatigue after a long journey from China and tough negotiations to get agreement with Pang Da and also after a day with the staff and management at Saab's there. But his eyes rove not the least - he was earlier in the day spoken to 3500 people whose livelihood depends on his decision and could tell if the agreement he negotiated in record time.

    When asked how it is possible to negotiate a deal in China in such a short time - contracts in the vast country to the east might otherwise be months-long process - he says:

    - There is substantial difference between this agreement and the agreement we negotiated with Hawtai and also, for example, it was between Volvo and Geely. We are not talking about a Chinese manufacturer but a distributor. It's about selling the cars, but not technology. This agreement was much easier to negotiate.

    - And you can never just have a plan A, then you are screwed. You must always have a Plan B and Plan C. As for the actual negotiations, we must not leave until all signatures are on paper. A hearing is worth nothing if you do not manage to capture prey you hunt, he keeps in mind with a look that really makes a statement unnecessary.

    The actual background to the new China negotiations, he describes like this:

    - Agreement with Hawtai meant that there was an exclusive relationship for about a week. When it became clear that Hawtai could not obtain the authorization was required, I throw myself on a flight from U.S. to Beijing last week.

    - You could imagine how it felt after holding press conference for the 200 Chinese journalists - that only a few days later forced to go out and declare that the contract was not sustained.

    But losing was not an option. He says just that - literally. The Swedish media began to be filled with prophecies of Saab's imminent demise was unlikely situation more pleasant. But at the same time: when the subject of media coverage comes up, and even the criticism leveled against him, is it already fixed his eyes even more solid.

    - We got into a situation where we went from problems with some suppliers, and where we misjudged the situation. All of a sudden put a lot of other suppliers require payment terms that seriously hampered the ability to pay, which further fueled by strong media coverage. It is common to have a shortage of liquidity at the end of the first quarter, as car sales in early years is never as strong. But this was a very different situation.

    Exactly what he said during the speech he gave to the employees, he would not go into.

    - It is a matter between them and me.

    De verklaringen van onze held CEO Victor Muller op een rijtje:

    Interview was gister, dus geld is daar terwijl de Chinezen nog aan het uitpluizen zijn hoe ze het überhaupt over kunnen maken. De orders stonden er nog, die worden pas geleverd als er betaald is (en wellicht alleen op vooruitbetaling).

    Wil dit zeggen dat het nieuw op te richten merk van scratch af aan begint, of dat de afspraken hierover loze woorden zijn?

    Dus zetten we een paar handtekeningen onder een MoU met dezelfde juridische hardheid als een stuk wc-papier.

    Als dit van te voren duidelijk was zijn de beleggers toch wel een beetje valselijk voorgelicht.

    Al die Chinezen zijn leugenaars, Pang Da over het overmaken van het geld, Hawtai met hun verklaring dat het niet ging om autorisatie maar om economische haalbaarheid.

    Muller: Productie start (hopelijk) over enkele weken

    Dus jij dacht dat na de laatste deal van Victor Muller de productieband in Trollhättan meteen weer opgestart kon worden? Think again!

    Gisteren (en vanochtend) werd er door Muller (en andere mensen van Saab) nog geroepen dat de productie “binnen een week” of “uiterlijk volgende week woensdag” weer opgestart zou kunnen worden. Maar toen hij vanmiddag een peptalk hield voor de arbeiders in de fabriek was hij al een stuk minder hoopvol. Toen werd er namelijk al gesproken over het feit dat er meerdere weken overheen zouden kunnen gaan voordat er weer auto’s gebouwd konden worden. Er zijn namelijk nog een heleboel hobbels die genomen moeten worden.
    Gisteren verbaasde Victor Muller de wereld door een deal aan te kondigen met de (onbekende) Chinese autodealer Pang Da. Ze hebben namelijk hard geld nodig om de productielijnen (die al ruim 6 weken stil liggen) weer op te starten. De rekeningen die openstaan bij toeleveranciers zijn in totaal zo’n 90 miljoen euro, maar hoe gaat Saab aan dat geld komen? Dat hebben ze als volgt bedacht:
    - 30 miljoen is afkomstig van Gemini Investment Fund
    - 30 miljoen is afkomstig van Pang Da
    - 29,1 miljoen is afkomstig van de EIB
    Die eerste 30 miljoen is (volgens Muller) al binnen, maar bij het geld van Pang Da beginnen de twijfels. Gisteren wist Victor te vertellen dat het geld overgemaakt was en vandaag in Zweden zou aankomen. Het is dan wel opmerkelijk dat een woordvoerder van Pang Da vandaag wist te melden dat het geld tussen nu en 2 weken overgemaakt zal worden. Laten we het er dus maar even op houden dat het geld nog ergens tussen China en Zweden “zweeft”.
    En dan is er nog dat geld van de EIB. Op 2 mei werd ons verteld dat het “voor eind volgende week” (oftewel afgelopen zondag) binnen zou zijn. Dat lijkt nog niet het geval te zijn, want de EIB heeft zojuist een redelijk pissig persbericht verstuurd waarin ze Saab (en de wereld) er even aan herinneren dat ze hun uiterste best doen om Saab te helpen, maar dat Saab constant met nieuwe partners & plannen op de proppen blijft komen. Op die manier kan de (bureaucratische) EIB natuurlijk niet zijn werk doen. Het is dus nog maar de vraag wanneer Saab die benodigde 90 miljoen kan overmaken aan hun leveranciers, die al maanden op hun geld wachten en druk bezig zijn om personeel te ontslaan.
    Maar goed, indien straks iedereen (voorlopig) betaald is, kan Saab dan meteen gaan produceren? Helaas zal dat ook niet zo gemakkelijk gaan. Saab zal namelijk met al hun 800(!) toeleveranciers nieuwe leveringsvoorwaarden moeten afspreken. Het ligt voor de hand dat veel leveranciers Cash on Delivery gaan eisen, want ze hebben natuurlijk weinig zin om weer extreem lang op hun geld te moeten wachten. Meerdere toeleveranciers zijn inmiddels al gedwongen om hun personeelsbestand te reorganiseren en mensen naar huis te sturen.
    Dus zelfs als straks alles geregeld is, en men alle leveranciers weer wil betalen, dan moeten ze ook zelf nog hun productie gaan opstarten om Saab onderdelen te kunnen leveren. Voor generieke boutjes & moertjes zal dat niet zo’n probleem zijn, maar voor specifieke onderdelen zal dat misschien wat lastiger worden. Helemaal als leveranciers hun productiecapaciteit inmiddels al gebruiken voor andere klanten. Saab mag waarschijnlijk achteraan de rij aansluiten en zal weinig “voordeeltjes” krijgen.
    Als je al deze (vrij realistische) factoren meeneemt in je overwegingen dan kan het zomaar tot juni duren voordat de productie in Zweden weer (volledig) op gang is gekomen. En dan speelt er op de achtergrond ook nog een verhaal dat de Zweedse overheid helemaal niet zo blij is met alle zaken die momenteel bij Saab spelen. Er wordt zelfs geroepen (door een vertrouweling van Antonov) dat de Zweedse overheid Saab failliet wil hebben.
    Overigens krijg ik bij het hele Saab verhaal steeds meer een DSB gevoel. Iedereen wist bij DSB dat er eigenlijk geen solide businessplan was en dat de boel moeilijk te redden zou zijn, maar ondanks dat bleef Dirk Scheringa als een soort moderne Don Quichot vechten tegen de grote boze buitenwereld. En net zoals Dirkie met luid applaus werd ontvangen door zijn personeel was dat vandaag ook het geval bij Victor Muller in de Saab fabriek.
    Speciaal voor de mensen die niet weten hoe de deal met Pang Da er precies uitziet, hieronder nog even de details (in het kort). De deal bestaat simpel gezegd uit 3 onderdelen:
    1) Pang Da koopt 1.300 Saab’s (twv 30 miljoen euro) en heeft de optie om een extra order te plaatsen ter waarde van 15 miljoen euro;
    2) Pang Da wil 65 miljoen euro investeren in ruil voor 24% van de aandelen in Spyker Cars NV (= Saab);
    3) Saab & Pang Da willen verschillende Joint Ventures opzetten voor de productie & verkoop van Saabs in China.
    Zoals je hier boven hebt gelezen is deel 1 van dit plan zo goed als uitgevoerd. Het geld is (onderweg?) naar Saab en in september zal Saab dan 1.300 auto’s in China afleveren. Het is overigens niet bekend of het hier gaat om gloednieuwe auto’s die nog gebouwd moeten worden (en dus onderdelen voor gekocht moeten worden) of dat Saab zo slim is om 1.300 (onverkoopbare) auto’s die op voorraad staan naar China te verschepen.
    De rest van deal is op dit moment nog een redelijke ver van ons bed show. Uitsluitsel over plan 2 komt op zijn vroegst over een maand of 3 (tot 6) en is afhankelijk van heel veel partijen die toestemming moeten geven (GM, EIB, Zweedse overheid, Chinese overheid etc). Dat gaat dus nog wel even duren. En plan 3 zal pas op gang komen over een jaar of twee. Ook wordt er door veel analisten voor gewaarschuwd dat een zogenaamde MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) in China nog minder waarde heeft dan een gebruikt stukje WC papier. Op elk gewenst moment kan je daar namelijk weer vanaf (zoals we bij Hawtai zagen).
    Op dit moment heeft Pang Da een goede deal gesloten door van een fabrikant die op sterven na dood is een restpartij te kopen en wat mooie beloften te doen voor de toekomst (waar ze makkelijk onderuit kunnen). Het blijven immers slimme autohandelaren, die Chinezen. En daarnaast hebben ze nu voor het schijntje van 30 miljoen euro hun naam wereldwijd op de kaart gezet. Sinds enkele weken heeft Pang Da namelijk een beursnotering, maar dat was nogal een flop. Op de eerste dag kletterde de koers met 25% omlaag en dus waren ze wel toe aan wat extra media-aandacht om de moed er een beetje in te houden. Dat is ze nu aardig gelukt door wat Saab’s te kopen en loze(?) beloften te doen. Of ze die andere beloften ooit gaan nakomen valt immers nog maar te bezien.
    PS En dan hebben we het nog niet eens gehad over de geruchten dat de introductie van de nieuwe 9-3 al met 6 tot 12 maanden vertraagd is. Als er geen geld is voor het produceren van auto’s zal er waarschijnlijk nog minder geld zijn om die super belangrijke 9-3 te ontwikkelen… to be continued!

    Wat herhaling van dingen die al in het persbericht stonden. Vooral de doelstelling om 10.000 Saab's in China te verkopen doet mij schaterlachen.

    - Saabs zijn onbetaalbaar in China, want over importauto's worden torenhoge belastingen geheven (daarom bouwen Audi, BMW & Mercedes in China)

    Die stomme Chinezen zijn met open ogen in de val gelopen. Niet te filmen dit! Als je wil weten hoe deze deal echt in elkaar zit en wat tegen die zielige Chinezen verteld is door Victor Muller dan moet je onderstaand interview met de CEO van Pangda even lezen:

    When we signed with Saab we also thought about this issue, CATC signed a deal with Saab for three year distribution rights, we have good relations with CATC, Im good friends with their General Manager, but business is business. The deal that Saab and CATC signed can be cancelled at the end of this year, we will take over the importation from 2012 onwards.
