    Mondiale staalproductie daalt

    Terugval Chinese staalproductie in juli.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) De mondiale staalproductie is in juli gedaald, door een terugval in China. Dit bleek donderdag uit cijfers van brancheorganisatie World Steel Association.

    In totaal produceerden de 71 staalproducerende landen vorige maand 152,8 miljoen ton staal, wat 4,7 procent minder was dan in juli 2023.

    In China, wereldwijd met afstand de grootste fabrikant van staal, daalde de productie in juli met 9 procent tot 82,9 miljoen ton. Ook in Zuid-Korea daalde de productie in juli met 3,4 procent.

    In de Europese Unie was er een toename van 5,7 procent op jaarbasis. In Duitsland steeg de productie met 4,8 procent en in de VS steeg de productie met 2,1 procent.

According to Aco Brasil, the country's steel industry association, Brazil imported 3.3 million metric tons of steel during the first seven months of the year, reflecting a significant 23.7% jump from the same period in 2023. This increase follows last year's record high, where steel shipments reached 5 million metric tons, with China accounting for more than half of that volume.
