    In het Belgische nieuwsprogramma Terzake werd een opsomming gegeven van de uitbreiding van de NAVO in oostelijke richting onder Jeltsin en Poetin. Die laatste trok in 2008 een rode lijn en geef hem gelijk.
    Vandaag lopen Europese landen aan de leiband van de VS. De VS heeft gasbelangen en die schijnen zwaar te wegen.
    Vandaar dat het moeilijk onderhandelen is met Rusland over de Oekraine.
    Europese leiders bezoeken Poetin voor de vorm. Ze hebben niets te bieden. Komen met lege handen en gaan met lege handen weer terug.

    Trouwens nog een leerzaam stukje geschiedenis:
    
    Ooit had Saddam wél chemische wapens. Toen onderhield hij betere relaties met de VS en steunden ze hem in zijn oorlog tegen Iran. Destijds gebruikte het Iraakse regime chemische wapens, maar de VS beweerde toentertijd dat Iran de dader was.
    
    Hou de geschiedenis in je achterhoofd bij al dit soort beschuldiging die de VS vandaag de dag uit.
