   Op TF1 (Frankrijk) was een kort fragment over ABX464. Hier was een patiënt aan het woord die hersteld/genezen was van Covid19. Onbekend was of hij ABX464 kreeg in pilvorm of placebo. De resultaten worden eind 1ekw21 verwacht. Ikzelf ben zeker optimistisch en de waardering is op dit moment erg laag, dus bij slagen van dit medicijn voor Covid19 zal dit een enorme koersstijging teweeg brengen.

   Als het medicijn werkt tegen covid, zal het een explosie van jewelste geven. Maar laat ons er maar vanuit gaan dat er geen significante verbetering gaat zijn. En dat zal zo zijn bij de meeste biotech. Mij lijken al die trials voor covid eerder: nooit geschoten altijd mis.
   Wat abivax betreft kijk ik vooral naar de market cap in functie van de miljardenmarkten waarin het medicijn getest wordt.
   
   Nu ja, als het werkt tegen Covid, dan passeer ik gewoon een paar jaar eerder aan de kassa :-)

   ABX464 dus niet voor Covid19, jammer, dit had een extra koersstimulans kunnen zijn. Wel apart koersverloop met een flinke dip tussendoor (sommigen waren dus al op de hoogte).

   PARIS, March 5, 2021 – 08:00 p.m. (CET) – Abivax (Euronext Paris: FR0012333284 – ABVX), a clinical-stage biotechnology company modulating the immune system to develop novel treatments for inflammatory diseases, viral diseases and cancer, announces today that it is halting the miR-AGE phase 2b/3 clinical trial in high-risk Covid-19 patients after the independent Data Safety and Monitoring Board (DSMB) recommendation for lack of efficacy.
   
   The multinational miR-AGE ABX464 phase 2b/3 clinical trial (ABX464-401), has already recruited 500 high-risk Covid-19 patients out of the planned 1,034 and has been declared “Research National Priority” by the French government in December 2020. The study has a robust randomized, double-blind and placebo-controlled design to test whether ABX464 could prevent the development of severe Covid-19 disease in the participants. The DSMB recommendation is based on a planned, interim analysis evaluating data of 305 high-risk Covid-19 patients who completed the study period. The comparison of the data generated in the patient group treated with ABX464 versus the placebo group, did not show a difference in the rate of severe disease between the placebo group and the ABX464 group. Importantly, ABX464 was well tolerated and safe in these high-risk Covid-19 patients.
   
   Eric Cua, M.D., infectious disease specialist at the University Hospital Center (CHU) of Nice and principal coordinator of the miR-AGE trial in France, said: The very well designed and conducted miR-AGE study aimed at preventing severe acute disease characterized by hyperinflammation and cytokine storm. Thanks to the robust study design, we can rely on the outcome of the interim analysis that showed the futility of the trial. The analysis also confirms the good safety of ABX464. The low rate of severe disease in this high-risk population was unexpected, however, it is good news about the prognosis of high risk Covid-19 patients with the current standard of care and with emerging variants.”
   
   Prof. Jorge Kalil, M.D., Ph.D., Professor and Head of Clinical Immunology and Allergy at the University Hospital Center in São Paulo and national coordinator of the miR-AGE study in Brazil, added: “As an immunologist, I am puzzled by the outcome of the interim analysis, as ABX464 addresses both the viral and inflammatory aspects of the disease. However, we recognize that Covid-19 is a novel, hyper-acute and complex disease that involves various viral and inflammatory pathways, plus the coagulation system, which are still not fully understood. The participation of clinical research teams across Brazil within this multinational trial was a very enriching experience that will be valuable for future clinical studies.”
   
   Prof. Hartmut J. Ehrlich, M.D., CEO of Abivax, said: “The miR-AGE trial was set up based on a scientifically sound rationale and it was robustly designed with the input of a highly experienced steering committee in order to evaluate the safety and efficacy of ABX464 in preventing severe Covid-19 disease and death in high-risk patients. Although this is a disappointing outcome, the good safety and tolerability data in this fragile population will be very useful going forward, and I would like to thank all investigators, healthcare personnel, patients and Bpifrance for their active involvement in the study. ABX464 has been shown to be highly efficacious in treating “chronic” inflammation according to clinical, endoscopic and histological endpoints in ulcerative colitis, as confirmed by the phase 2a data published this week in the peer-reviewed “Gastroenterology” article. Therefore, this outcome in “hyper-acute” Covid-19 disease has no impact on ABX464 potential to be successful in chronic inflammatory disease.”

   Het aantal free float is laag. Dus een overname moet gesteund worden door de grote aandeelhouders. En die hebben volgens mij al een bod afgewezen. Dus ik schat de kans klein, tenzij het bod heel hoog is. Maar daar is het volgens mij nog te vroeg voor. Met een market cap van 286 miljoen is er een giga potentieel in mijn ogen van dit niveau. Corona had mooi geweest, maar nu kunnen we kijken naar de fundamenten van de organisatie. En dat is CD, UC en RA lijkt me. Jammer van de grote terugval, maar dat is ideaal om nog wat bij te kopen :-)

    Ik zag weinig eieren in het Covid verhaal, voor mij is dit dan ook geweldig nieuws. Ik heb rond 34$ kunnen verkopen en kan nu op een dieptepunt weer terugkopen. Vandaag weer flink wat ingeslagen. Jammer voor iedereen die gehoopt had op een forse winst bij goede Covid resultaten, maar Abivax gaat er uiteindelijk wel komen. Gewoon nog even geduld hebben, de koers is momenteel echt zwaar ondergewaardeerd in mijn ogen.

    Klopt, helemaal terug naar de fundamenten waarvoor ik gekocht heb. Onder de 20 heb ik mijn positie verdubbeld begin maart. Met deze market cap is dit een zeer aantrekkelijke overnameprooi. Alleen heeft het management genoeg aandelen om het te counteren. Dus de prijs zal niet mals zijn... En dan is de-risken de eerste horde. Daarvoor is wat geduld nodig.

    Ik denk niet dat het management zomaar akkoord gaat met een overname. Genoeg geld komende tijd, en zo niet dan pompt Truffle Capital er wel weer wat extra in door posities elders te verkleinen.
    
    Ze willen het medicijn gewoon zelf naar de markt brengen, het is een miljardenindustrie dus zelfs met een klein marktaandeel zal het bedrijf zeer veel waard worden als het medicijn aanslaat. Die 250 miljoen beurswaarde momenteel is dan echt peanuts. Vergelijk het eens met een Galapagos die ook in dezelfde markt opereert, die waren (voor het slechte nieuws rondom Filgotinib) al ca. 15 miljard waard.

    Ik vind het heel apart dat er een webinar wordt gemaakt, een maand voordat de fase 2b resultaten bekend worden gemaakt.
    
    Verder viel het me op dat er erg terughoudend werd gereageerd toen er een vraag kwam over hun verwachtingen voor de RA studie.

    Spannend inderdaad. Ruikt naar slechte resultaten? Bij goed nieuws gooi je dit toch gewoon buiten?
    Bij goed nieuws kan dit wel eens exploderen. Huidige marktwaarde is niks voor een molecule die een waarde binnen uc, cd of ra hebben..

    Volgensmij maakt het niks uit of het goed of slecht nieuws is, zodra er nieuws komt tijdens een trading dag dat een grote impact heeft op de marktwaarde van een bedrijf, komt er een halt. Je kunt er nu eigenlijk vrijwel niks van zeggen.

    Bij de meeste press releases komt deze gewoon voor- of nabeurs. Maar even nagekeken, de laatste suspension bij Abivax was idd goed nieuws. Dus zegt inderdaad niet veel. De dood of de gladiolen :-)

    Uitstekende resultaten fase 2b UC. Een van de onderzoekers was vooral onder de indruk van de werkzaamheid bij ernstige patiënten bij wie de behandeling met biologische en / of JAK-remmers eerder mislukte en van de duurzame en toenemende werkzaamheid tijdens onderhoudsbehandeling.
