   Gezien de CRXL-PPS-stijging van de laatste dagen (forser dan die van die indexen) weten de CRXL beleggers/speculo's wel welke naam hier ontbreekt.
   Lijkt me ook een terechte stijging, met (bevestiging van) redelijke concrete verkoopsverbetering in de nabije toekomst.

   Ik veronderstel dat Crucell niet gekend is op de Indiase markt, Novartis (eigenaar van Quinvaxem en Joint ventured met Panacea) daarentegen wel.

   (Met: Bijzondere aandacht verdient de productie van het poliovaccin (IPV) door het NVI. Dit vaccin wordt door het NVI afgezet in ontwikkelingslanden. Het lijkt logisch ook deze productie bij het NVI te beëindigen. De WHO ziet het NVI echter als een belangrijke partner in de wereldwijde eradicatiestrategie van polio, omdat het NVI als publieke instelling bereid is poliovaccin in de goedkoopste toedieningsvorm te leveren waardoor het vaccin voor ontwikkelingslanden betaalbaar is. Ik zal daarom de mogelijkheden laten verkennen om de productie van IPV in een publiek-private samenwerking (PPS) tussen het NVI en (een) private partij(en), in een aparte juridische entiteit voort te zetten.)

   En via de connectie Serum Institute India komt India ook in het vizier (zonder Novartis?). Pentavalent van Serum Institute is wel niet geheel vloeibaar maar zoals dat van GSK met een gevriesdroogde component (soit, het hexavalent is het misschien wel).

    Wat ik niet goed begrijp waarom laatst een deal tussen Crucell en Sanofi over Shanta5 en Flucell. Gezien de huidige ontwikkelingen levert deze deal "helemaal" geen voordeel op voor Sanofi betreffende Shanta. In ieder geval niet voor de korte termijn. Alhoewel Sanofi zal dit toch al eerder geweten moeten hebben of is de afstand te groot tussen India en Frankrijk. Wie kan zijn licht hierover schijnen.

    Genzyme moet een flinke boete betalen voor de geconstateerde kwaliteitsafwijkingen.

    Veel zal afhangen van:

    Naar mijn weten heeft Crucell voor Quinvaxem weinig tot geen verzekering afgesloten om het risico te beperken. (Brengt te hoge kosten mee in verhouding tot het risicoprofiel).
    Derhalve is het aannemelijk dat ook Shanta weinig dekking heeft afgesloten.
    
    Naar mijn mening zou WHO/ Unicef een hele mooie claim kunnen voorbereiden. Gevoelsmatig denk ik dat Shanta kan profiteren van Sanofi als grote beschermheer en contact bij WHO, terwijl mij het karakter van Unicef zachter lijkt dat de FDA.

    Last time Bill Gates was here (in May 2010) he had discussions with vaccine manufacturers in the country. What has been the progress on that? What diseases are they targeting?

The discussion you refer to were Foundation discussions. OUR HIGHEST PRIORITY FOR VACCINES ARE THE PENTAVALENT VACCINE. The pentavalent vaccine combines antigens against five diseases targeted through vaccination in children — diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus (DPT), hepatitis B and Haemophilus Influenza type B (HIB). Others are vaccines for pneumococcal diseases and rotavirus vaccine (prevents diarrhoea among infants). Of course, number one priority is polio.

    Bij de waarde-bepaling van Cr wordt elke keer gesproken over de pipe-line, maar met Q heeft Cr ook een heel mooi produkt in handen waar ze nog lang plezier van kunnen hebben. Zeker met die nieuwe fabriek. Niet voor niets wil JJ Cr nu kopen.

    Crucell is met een octovalent vaccin bezig, met onder andere polio.
    Maar ja, dat willen ze nu nog even niet kwijt. J&J weet dat natuurlijk wel en zo is de ene aandeelhouder toch in het voordeel ten opzichte van de andere aandeelhouders. Brus c.s. spelen een verschrikkelijk smerig spelletje.
    Daarom moet hij vertrekken, liefst zonder bonussen. Het is gewoon hufterig, zoals het MT zich nu gedraagt t.o.v. de aandeelhouders.

    Sanofi-Aventis to take longer on Shan5 relaunch
    
    French vaccine major Sanofi-Aventis is expected to relaunch the pentavalent Shan5 vaccine produced by its Indian subsidiary, Shantha Biotech, only in 2013. It does not want to take further chances after the World Health Organisation (WHO) removed the vaccine from its prequalification list in July last year.
    “We first thought it would be ready for undergoing the inspection process in January next year. However, the company is conducting more stability studies on the vaccine. Therefore, it may take a longer time before it goes through the usual approval process,” a senior official in the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization told Business Standard.
    Sanofi had completely stopped producing Shan5 after the WHO delisted the vaccine from prequalification, based on complaints that a white sediment was found sticking to the vials. However, WHO stated there were no side-effects reported from this aberration.
    With the stoppage of production, Shantha Biotech’s annual revenue had come down to around Rs 70 crore from the Rs 500 crore when the vaccine was in the market across the world, according to a senior company official who did not wish to be named.
    “The company undertook extended studies on the vaccine, though Shan5 is absolutely ready for relaunch, only because the Sanofi management was very particular about its global reputation. Since we began the process of trials from the start as if it’s a new vaccine, it may be out in the market only in 2013,” the official told Business Standard.
    Delay in restart of production of this five-in-one vaccine would extend the revenue loss to Sanofi’s Indian subsidiary into next year as well. It had bagged a $340-million procurement contract from WHO for the vaccine, which offers protection against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, haemophilus influenza B and hepatitis B in children, in September 2009 for a period of three years starting 2010.
    Referring to WHO’s move on this vaccine, Sanofi CEO Christopher A Viehbacher had, in October this year, said there would be no compromise on quality and safety, as all manufacturing facilities were of global standard, irrespective of location. “We have implemented all the corrective measures and will be participating in global tenders once the pre-qualification process is complete for low-cost and high-quality vaccines,” he said during his Hyderabad visit.
    Hyderabad emerged as the capital of low-cost vaccines after city-based Shantha and Bharat Biotech had, in the early 90s, successfully developed and produced recombinant human vaccines at a price 15 times lower than that of the same products marketed by global pharma companies.
    However, instances of rejection of vaccines on quality concerns — first in the case of Shan5 and then with regard to Bharat Biotech’s hepatitis B product, Revac-B, last month by WHO — are expected to have serious implications on the reputation of India’s ability to deliver high-quality vaccines at a low price, say analysts. www.business-standard.com/india/news/...
