BARCELONA -(Dow Jones)- Dutch navigation equipment and digital map maker TomTom N.V.'s (TOM2.AE) crucial fourth-quarter sales are in line with expectations so far, its Chief Executive Harold Goddijn said Thursday.
Speaking at the annual Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecoms conference in Barcelona, Goddijn said that as in the prior year, TomTom is going big again on Black Friday, the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the U.S., traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season.
TomTom is working with retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT) to push US sales, Goddijn said.
Especially in the U.S., besides Europe its main market, the Christmas holiday season is crucial for TomTom. According to the Goddijn 40% of the total volume in the U.S. is done in the fourth quarter.
However, Goddijn said the Christmas holiday shopping season hasn't started yet.
