Audi India sales rise over 100pct in August
The luxury carmaker Audi India reported a 100 plus percent jump in its sales in August at 510 units, as against 250 units in the month ago period. During January to August period, the German company's jumped a full 95 percent to 3,655 units from 18,76 units in the year ago period.
Mr Michael Perschke head of Audi India in a statement said that "Having recorded 95% growth for the January to August period, India is well ahead of other growth markets for us globally, and we are confident that we are on track with our vision of being the No 1 luxury car manufacturer here by 2015.”
He added that "The recent launch of the all new Audi A6 will play a very important role in strengthening our position in the luxury limousine segment and the new business edition Audi Q5 will further consolidate our leadership position in the luxury SUV segment here.”
This comes at a time when the domestic auto majors have been witnessing a sharp decline in sales since last month, when overall sales slumped 16.7% a 30 month low, forcing the industry body Siam revise downwards its annual sales target to 16 to 18%
The company sells Audi A4, Audi A6, Audi A7 Sportback, Audi A8L, Audi Q5, Audi Q7, Audi RS5, the super sports car Audi R8 and Audi R8 Spyder in the domestic market.
